The lab begins today, July 28, and runs until August 1. According to a statement issued by the Institute today, Producing Fellows will use the next few days to “work with an accomplished group of Creative Advisors to develop their creative producing, communication and problem-solving skills in all stages of film production.” The Institute will continue to provide support to the projects throughout the year.
Following the conclusion of the lab, the Institute’s annual summit will begin. A three-day invitation-only event, the summit is aimed at building relationships between independent filmmakers and top industry professionals working on the business side.
“Independent producers play a critical role in discovering, fighting for and shaping original voices,” said Sundance Institute Executive Director Keri Putnam. “Sundance Institute is committed to developing and supporting independent producers whose skills and tenacity are critical to maintaining the health and vibrancy of independent film.”
