Project of the Day: 'Driving Not Knowing'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Driving Not Knowing

Tweetable Logline: A movie about the blurred borders of sex, addiction and love. A movie about the aimlessness of young people beginning their adult lives.

Elevator Pitch: Dane Mainella and Jay Jadick play artists, Will and Lee, at odds yet addicted to each other. Lee, a drug-addled yet sensitive musician, is in love with Will, an ambitious poet. Violent and intense, Will is hesitant to make himself vulnerable to Lee’s affection. After a year-long estrangement that arose from their disharmonious intentions for one another, the two reunite for a weekend in the countryside. Entertaining yet stark and unforgivingly honest, it’s a movie that openly explores the inevitability of change and separation through the strained bonds of male friendship, sex, and love.

About the Production: The film – semi-autobiographical – places some of our own personal storylines within interesting, fictional scenarios. Since we filmed the movie during the summer before our final year of college, the weight of this transitional period strongly influenced the story itself. We found ourselves approaching the ‘real world’, not knowing exactly how to negotiate this inevitable change in our lives. What would we be doing in a year? Who would still be a part of our lives? Would everything be okay? In a way, this film is our response to these questions.

Current Status: We are in post-production. The film has been shot and edited. We are now fundraising for finishing costs i.e. sound design, color correction, etc.
