Project of the Day: 'Three Fingers'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Three Fingers

Tweetable Logline: A young female Marine war veteran navigates her disintegrating life until there is nothing left but to make a choice.

Elevator Pitch: Jesstine, a young female Marine war veteran struggles to navigate her disintegrating life after returning from being wounded in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. As she fails to cope with her worsening PTSD, she grapples with the loss of her job, the departure of her fiancée and her own ongoing volatile behavior. When she realizes there is nothing left, she is forced into making the ultimate life or death decision.

22 veterans take their own lives daily in this country. That’s 1 every 65 minutes. We believe that Three Fingers is a timely story that needs to be told.

Production Team:
Paul D. Hart – Writer / Director

Ben Umstead – Producer
Virginia Newcomb – Actor / Producer Twenty-two. That’s the number of war veterans that commit suicide every day in the United States. Sometimes a storyteller finds inspiration that leads to and coincides with a subject matter that needs to be told. Three Fingers, for me, is that story.
About the film: Twenty-two. That’s the number of war veterans that commit suicide every day in the United States. Sometimes a storyteller finds inspiration that leads to and coincides with a subject matter that needs to be told. “Three Fingers,” for me, is that story. I wish to make a film that is not only artistic and accessible, but also one that sheds light on major physical and mental illnesses that plague many veterans who have volunteered to serve our country. With several artists, active Marines and veterans already helping through outreach and consultation, we are on our way to achieving this goal.

Current Status: We are currently raising funds and working in pre-production for a Fall 2014 shoot in Nashville, TN.
