Tweetable Logline: Former Air Force Academy All-Star Antoine Hood refuses to let his dream of making the NBA die, all while managing a family and nearing 30
Elevator Pitch: Anatomy of an American Dream is a feature length documentary following the life of former Air Force Academy star point guard Antoine Hood II. This film shows what it is like to dedicate one’s life fully, whether to basketball, the military, family, or faith. With his family, finances, and livelihood at the whim of his pursuit, is there ever a right time to give up on a dream?
Production Team:
Director/Cinematographer/
John Ryan Johnson is a filmmaker based in New York and New Orleans. He has directed commercials for American Express and Ciroc, as well as a branded content series for Subway, which premiered at SXSW in 2013. His cinematography work includes several short films and commercials, in addition to three upcoming feature documentaries: Olympia Dukakis: Undefined, A-Town Boyz, and his own feature directorial debut, Anatomy of anAmerican Dream.
Producer – Forest Conner
About the Production: While the specifics of the American Dream continue to expand in their breadth, the requisite belief system that has nothing to do with any specific religion or political party or race is the unifying factor in those we may praise or damn as dreamers. It is what makes Antoine’s story universal and accessible. Just as there is a fine line between genius and insanity, we may all be surprised to discover there is an equally narrow gap between dreamers and followers. Where is the point when we accept the end of one dream and the beginning of another?
Current Status: Post-production
