The first trailer for “Lazer Team,” the crowdfunding success story from Rooster Teeth Productions, has dropped.
The premise behind “Lazer Team” begins in the late 1970s when the Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence Project receives a signal from outer space. The message appears exactly as theorists expect a communication from an alien civilization would, and its decoded message reads: “The galaxy is a dangerous place.”
Taking place decades later, “Lazer Team” is a sci-fi comedic romp following four unlikely heroes tasked to solve the puzzle and save the world.
The film made history on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, raising a site-record of $2.48 million in funding. A big reason for the outpouring of support was the team behind the project, Rooster Teeth Productions, who became the fourth most-viewed YouTube channel in the world (non-music) in 2013.
The trailer, heavy on rockets and explosions, indicates that those behind the film put the money to good use. Check out the trailer below:
