'Blood Father' Trailer: Watch Mel Gibson Protect His Daughter From Murderous Drug Dealers Ahead of Cannes Premiere

Mel Gibson‘s latest film “Blood Father” follows John Link (Gibson), an ex-con who runs a tattoo parlor, who reconnects with his estranged daughter Lydia (Erin Moriarty), but finds that she’s in trouble with a nasty group of people. Despite not being there for her when she was growing up, John may be Lydia’s only chance for survival as they go on the run from murderous drug dealers and the police. Directed by Jean-Francois Richet (“Assault on Precinct 13” (2005) and “Public Enemy #1”), “Blood Father” is co-written by Andrea Berloff (“Straight Outta Compton) and Peter Craig, based off Craig’s novel of the same name. This will be Gibson’s first role in a feature film since 2014’s “The Expendables 3.” “Blood Father” also stars William H. Macy (“Fargo”), Elisabeth Röhm (“American Hustle,” “Joy”), Diego Luna (“The Terminal”), Thomas Mann (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”), Dale Dickey (“Winter’s Bone”), and more.

“Blood Father” will be distributed by Lionsgate. It’s set to premiere in the Midnight section at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It’s scheduled to be released in the United States on August 26th.
