Vimeo Aquires Cameo, a Video Creation App, Giving Users A New Option for Making Movies

Vimeo has acquired Cameo, a free mobile-cloud based video creation app that allows users to shoot and share films, the company announced today.

With Cameo, users can edit and customize their videos (called “Cameos”) with effects such as video overlays, title cards, and custom fonts packaged into themes (inspired by classic films, music videos and other movies). Users can then share their videos via Cameo’s cloud-based network.

said Cameo Co-Founder and CEO Matthew Rosenberg, who launched the company in October 2013 along with Michael Constantiner,
and Andy Thompson. “We’re excited about

create in further developing the app.”

The
Cameo team will report to Vimeo’s Chief Technology Officer, Andrew
Pile. Rosenberg will transition from his
role to Vice President, Cameo.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
