‘National Geographic’s Explorer’ Exclusive Clip: Filmmaker Michael Moore Discusses White Privilege and Systemic Inequality

Since 1985, the National Geographic Channel’s long-running documentary series “Explorer” presents entertaining and enlightening investigative stories from around the globe. Along with in-depth interviews and roundtable discussions, the series opens a window on hidden parts of the world, both ancient and modern. In the second episode of this season, host Richard Bacon examines the hot-button issue of over-policing in Gretna, Louisiana, a place that takes in 15% of its city revenue from arrests. He sits down with filmmaker Michael Moore, Blue Live Matter’s Randy Sutton, and commentator Baratunde Thurston to discuss the issue. Moore is best known for his political documentary films like “Roger and Me,” which examined the effects of auto industry downsizing in Flint, Michigan, “Bowling for Columbine,” about the powerful gun lobby in the United States, and “Fahrenheit 9/11,” an investigation of President George W. Bush and the War on Terror. His most recent film “Michael Moore in TrumpLand,” a one-man show starring Moore that focused on this year’s presidential election, premiered this past October to mixed reviews.

The latest episode of “Explorer” will air tonight, November 21, on the National Geographic Channel at 10 p.m. ET.
