IndieWire’s David Ehrlich is subjecting himself to a 31-hour Marvel marathon this week, and he isn’t doing it because he loved “The Incredible Hulk” so much. Rather, it’s in support of Everytown for Gun Safety, a charity that, in its own words, works to “support efforts to educate policy makers, as well the press and the public, about the consequences of gun violence and promote efforts to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.”

Ehrlich set a $10,000 goal on YouCaring and is already more than halfway toward meeting it; should any of you dear readers feel inclined to donate, he’ll be even closer.

“While the remarkably brave survivors of the Parkland tragedy have propelled this topic back into the national conversation with the urgency it demands,” writes Ehrlich, “we have to remember that the crisis isn’t only limited to our schools.”

The marathon begins this Wednesday, April 25 at 1:30 p.m. The 12 movies screening are, in order, “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Thor,” “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “The Avengers,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Doctor Strange,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Black Panther,” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”

“Please help me work towards ending gun violence in America,” Ehrlich concludes, “because otherwise the problem is only going to get worse, and these Marvel movie marathons are only going to get longer.” Here’s where you can donate.
