Watch: Steven Soderbergh's 'The Knick' Pilot Is Now on YouTube

Last night, Cinemax debuted the highly anticipated first episode of “The Knick,” Steven Soderbergh‘s first television directing gig since the HBO series “K-Street” in 2003. The pilot is now available on YouTube for all to see, in the hopes that viewers will become so infatuated with the period surgical drama they’ll subscribe to Cinemax (or perhaps find another way to watch).

Clive Owen stars as Dr. John Thackery, a surgeon at Manhattan’s early 20th century Knickerbocker hospital, who favors daring procedures to advance medical knowledge over his own health. “The Knick” blends elements of intense drama with stark realism to create a world shocking in its now-ancient authenticity. Adding to this are some truly grisly surgical scenes, so be prepared to see some blood (and guts and skin flaps and more).

“The Knick” airs new episodes Friday nights at 10pm on Cinemax. Watch the pilot below.
