Organized Cheating Might Be the Only Way Save Relationship 'Zelos'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film, web series, TV pilot, what-have-you in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a project you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Zelos

Logline: A man who would never cheat is asked by the woman he loves to sleep with someone else to save their relationship — a compromise which may ultimately destroy them as love becomes corroded by jealousy.

Elevator Pitch:
Zelos (from the Greek – meaning ‘zeal’ and ‘ardour‘, but also ‘jealousy’ and ‘suspicion’) is a feature film about coming of age in your thirties.

Bernard is the thirty-something he always planned to be. He has a successful career, a meticulously neat beachside apartment and a hairstyle with just the right amount of gel. He adores his girlfriend Sarah who’s about to move in when she returns from overseas.

But Bernard’s pristine existence is turned upside down when Sarah confesses her holiday romance. To salvage the relationship, Sarah insists they equal the playing field: Bernard should sleep with another woman.

Production Team:
Jo-Anne Brechin – Director/Producer (“This Dog’s Life,” “Booth”)
Claire Harris – Writer/Producer
David Bedelis – Associate Producer
Emma Paine – Cinematographer (Winner of Australian Cinematographers Society Golden Tripod Award)
Margo Lowry – Production Manager
Tim Lloyd – Sound Recordist (“Dance Academy,” “McLeod’s Daughters,” “Newsfront”)
Christine Cheung – Editor (“Australia,” “The Water Diviner,” “The Great Gatsby”)

About the Film:
“Zelos” is a project helmed by women, with a majority female crew including our producers, director, writer, cinematographer and editor.

It features a cast of exciting Australian talent led by Ben Mortley (“Lantana”), Shannon Ashlyn (“Wolf Creek 2”) and Jeanie Drynan (“Muriel’s Wedding”).

We founded a production company, gathered a passionate team who worked for little financial reward, and put forward our own money to cover production costs.

We completed the shoot in January 2016 with the support of Definition Films (“The Water Diviner”) ― who lent us top of the range camera equipment and post-production facilities.

Current Status: We’re now in post-production and raising finances for completion of the film.
