Watch: Crooked Cops Casey Affleck and Woody Harrelson Get Gruesome in NSFW ‘Triple 9’ Trailer

After dropping out of “The Revenant” in 2011, “The Proposition” director John Hillcoat started work on the heist movie “Triple 9,” which has just gotten its first gruesome red band trailer.
The trailer features many of the faces in its star-studded cast, including Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Kate Winslet, Anthony Mackie and Norman Reedus, and is packed with guns, sex and violent images. Maybe it’s just the Woody Harrelson factor, but the tone also feels reminiscent of the first season of “True Detective.” Whatever the case may be, the trailer promises a grisly, action-packed heist film.
The movie is based on a Black List script from Matt Cook. The official synopsis reads: “In ‘Triple 9’, a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist and the only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for ‘officer down.’ Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the entire attack, triggering a breakneck action-packed finale tangled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.“
