After shocking audiences at the Rotterdam Film Festival, Greek filmmaker Argyris Papadimitropoulos’ “Suntan” is bound to do the same at its North American premiere next month at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival.

The coming-of-middle-age drama stars “Chevalier” actor Makis Papadimitriou as Kostis, a lonely doctor on a holiday island who meets and falls obsessively for a beautiful tourist named Anna. He begins spending nearly all of his time partying with her and her group of wild friends, but what starts as a rediscovery of his long-lost youth slowly turns into a dark obsession as Kostis becomes willing to do whatever it takes to keep Anna. Elli Tringou, Milou Van Groessen and Dimi Hart co-star.
The exclusive trailer above is a spiraling decent into hedonism that is bound to turn a few heads. Visit Films will be selling the film at this year’s European Film Market in Berlin, which starts this week.
