Ryan Gosling Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live” returned last night, and Ryan Gosling came along for the ride. The star of “Blade Runner 2049” hosted the season premiere and was the centerpiece of a standout sketch about a man absolutely haunted by one thing: the fact that “Avatar” used the Papyrus font for its logo.

“It happened again,” he narrates as it begins. “I thought it was behind me, but the dreams came back. I was up all night.” His wife (Cecily Strong) asks what’s wrong, but she already knows: “I forgot about it for years, but then I remembered that ‘Avatar,’ the giant, international blockbuster, used the Papyrus font as its logo.”

He can’t wrap his head around the fact that, as he explains to his therapist (Kate McKinnon), “He just highlighted ‘Avatar,’ he clicked the dropdown menu, and then he just randomly selected Papyrus like a thoughtless child just wandering by a garden yanking leaves along the way.”

Then he learns something terrible: “Avatar” is getting sequels, and they haven’t changed the font. Watch below.
