Based on the Dennis Lahane novel of the same name, “Live By Night” is a crime drama that finds Affleck in front of the camera as well, starring as Joe Coughlin. The son of a cop, Coughlin finds himself pulled to the dark side as he takes to the criminal underworld and thrives in a new life of organized crime. The star-studded ensemble also includes Sienna Miller, Elle Fanning, Zoe Saldana, Brendan Gleeson and Chris Cooper.
Set to the haunting voice of Hozier, the new trailer shows off the kind of tense pacing Affleck has perfected in past features like “Argo” and “The Town.” Quentin Tarantino’s longtime DP Robert Richardson also looks to be doing some amazing work behind the camera. The film represents Affleck’s second Lahane adaptation after his acclaimed debut “Gone Baby Gone.”
Warner Bros. will release the film wide on January 23, but expect an awards-qualifying run in late December. Watch the debut trailer below.
