An April Fool’s Gift: Fandor’s VHS Prank Leads to Free Streaming of ‘Adjust Your Tracking’

A clever prank has given way to a bit of advocacy, as the popular streaming site Fandor has treated those that fell for its April Fool’s trick to a little reward.

Earlier today, Fandor’s website and social media platforms began advertising a new VHS rental service, to be carried out through old-fashioned mail. The “advertisement” (pictured above) boasted some of the new offer’s best new features: no late fees, free delivery and, best of all, no “rewind charges.”

For those who chose to “learn more,” however, the joke was on them: the first sentence of the new page read, “Hope you enjoyed our little prank!”

Fortunately for those duped, there was a method to Fandor’s madness. The streaming service has made the film “Adjust Your Tracking” available for free streaming until Sunday, April 5. The film celebrates the days of the VHS and nostalgically calls for its preservation.
