How to Watch and Livestream the 2020 Presidential Election Results
The 2020 Presidential Election is inching to its conclusion and there are numerous options for you to watch the results come in during real time.
All the major cable news outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News, will be doing 24/7 coverage starting on Tuesday, November 3 and going into the early morning of Wednesday, November 4. Similarly, major broadcast networks like ABC, NBC, and CBS are expected to preempt regular primetime programming to follow and present results. The networks online counterparts will also carry the coverage and analysis.
C-SPAN will have live election night coverage from Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET to 7 a.m. ET on Wednesday. Coverage will include speeches, winners and losers, and the Presidential and Senate races. C-SPAN will also take viewer calls and reaction throughout the night. Election coverage will continue during C-SPAN’s signature call-in program Washington Journal on Wednesday from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. ET.
NBC’s new streaming service Peacock will air live election night coverage on The Choice, their free news commentary channel, starting at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Hosts Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist, Mehdi Hasan, and Zerlina Maxwell will appear throughout the night and into the early morning on November 4.
If you watch The Young Turks, they’ll be monitoring progressive races in addition to the presidential election. Their coverage will be gin at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT and is estimated to run over 13 hours. You can watch The Young Turks on YouTube, as well as Facebook, Twitch, Twitter, Roku, Samsung TV Plus, Comcast Xfinity X1 and Flex, Pluto TV, Xumo, and YouTube TV.
Bloomberg TV and Radio will provide live coverage of the presidential and congressional election results and deliver instant analysis starting at 7 p.m. ET on election night. Correspondents will also report live from key swing states, and the broadcast will provide global reaction from Asia and Europe. Bloomberg.com will run a live blog beginning at 6 PM/ET, providing real-time coverage, updates and analysis throughout the night.
PBS NewsHour will present live Election 2020 special coverage on November 3, starting at 6 p.m. ET on PBS stations nationwide. Managing Editor Judy Woodruff will anchor special programming from the NewsHour studio in Arlington, VA, with PBS NewsHour Senior National Correspondent Amna Nawaz. The network will have correspondents both in-studio and at the White House, along with various special guests from the political realm.
Trevor Noah, host of “The Daily Show” will be putting on a one-hour special in honor of election night. “Votegasm 2020: What Could Go Wrong (Again)” will air live on both coasts starting at 8 p.m. PT/11 p.m. ET on November 3. The special is a culmination of the late-night political show’s election coverage. “The Daily Show” will broadcast from its election fallout shelter in New York City and provide up-to-the-minute news and analysis on the results of the presidential race from Noah, as well as guest interviews and coverage from the News Team including Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Dulcé Sloan, Jaboukie Young-White and Roy Wood Jr., with special reporting from Jordan Klepper.
Stephen Colbert, former “Daily Show” correspondent and host of “Late Night with Stephen Colbert,” will also do a live election special. “Stephen Colbert’s Election Night 2020: Democracy’s Last Stand: Building Back America America Great Again Better 2020” will air on Showtime on November 3. This will be Colbert’s second election special after his 2016 special “Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night: Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Shit?” The special, which will feature Colbert and his guests reacting in real-time to the election results, will kick off Tuesday, November 3 at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT.
The election between President Donald J. Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden has dominated the landscape since 2020 began and, for many, marks the culmination of a year fraught with troubling issues, both nationally and globally. Between the rise of Black Lives Matter and the coronavirus pandemic there is a hope that the election, regardless of outcome, will turn the tide into 2021.
