'Being Elmo' Subject, Puppeteer Kevin Clash, Cleared of Sex Abuse Charges

After having been accused of sexual misconduct with minors, Kevin Clash, the subject of Sundance award-winning documentaryBeing Elmo,” has been cleared of all charges. The Hollywood Reporter reports the charged have been dismissed by the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Though the charges were dismissed last year due to the statute of limitations on sexual abuse (the alleged crimes took place over ten years ago), Clash’s three accusers later brought the case to the U.S. Court of Appeals and claimed that psychological damage hadn’t fully occurred until long after the alleged incidents took place.

“Being Elmo” gave an in-depth look at the life of Kevin Clash, the puppeteer who graced audiences with Elmo from “Sesame Street.”

Clash resigned from “Sesame Street” shortly after the accusations began.
