Attention, Editors: Open Call the 2015 Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellowship

Submissions for the 2015 Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellowship are now open through September 30, 2014. Now in its fifth year, the Film Editing Fellowship assists emerging documentary editors by developing their talent, expanding their creative community and furthering their career aspirations. In addition, the Fellowship offers a wide array of opportunities, including admission to the American Cinema Editors’ Editfest LA, free classes at New York City’s Manhattan Edit Workship, full access to the SXSW film festival and more.

Schmeer, the editor of documentaries such as “The Fog of War,” “Fast, Cheap & Out of Control” and “Bobby Fischer Against The World,” was killed at age 39 in a hit-and-run accident on January 29, 2010. Previous participants have attained major achievements in their editing careers since winning the award, including Jim Hession, the 2013 recipient who edited the 2014 Sundance U.S. Documentary Grand Jury prize winner “Rich Hill” (now playing in select theaters).
