In the midst of the Tribeca Film Festival, distributors are zeroing in on key projects. The latest is director Ben Palmer’s “Man Up,” for which Saban Films has just acquired the North American rights.

The film stars Simon Pegg, Lake Bell, Rory Kinnear and Olivia Williams. Bell plays Nancy, who, after being mistaken for Pegg’s character’s blind date, decides to go along with the mess-up.

“‘Man Up’ is a surprising love story led by two hilarious and talented actors,” said Saban Films President Bill Bromiley. “We’re always looking to acquire smart and distinctive films and this one is going to be incredibly appealing to a commercial audience.”

In the past, Saban Films has also acquired the rights to such films as “How to Make Love Like an Englishman” starring Pierce Brosnan, “Tracers” starring Taylor Lautner and “The Forger” starring John Travolta. The company launched just prior to the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, at which they acquired “The Homesman.”

No release date was announced.
