After premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Louie Psihoyos‘s documentary “Racing Extinction” will finally be coming to select theaters on Friday, September 18 courtesy of Abramorama. The movie shines a spotlight on endangered species and represents Psihoyos’ followup to the Oscar-winning “The Cove.”

The official synopsis reads: “Director Louie Psihoyos, along with producers Fisher Stevens and Olivia Ahnemann, assemble a team of artists and activists on a new undercover operation to expose the world of endangered species trafficking and the race to prevent mass extinction. Spanning the globe to infiltrate the world’s most dangerous black markets and using high tech tactics to document the link between carbon emissions and species extinction, the documentary reveals stunning, never-before seen images that truly change the way we see the world.”

“We are thrilled to bring ‘Racing Extinction’ to theaters this September and couldn’t ask for a better partner than Abramorama,” said Louie Psihoyos. “We’re overjoyed to share this film with a larger audience.”

In addition to its theatrical release, the doc will also have a broadcast television premiere on The Discovery Channel on December 2. The movie will play in 220 international markets across the world within a span of 24 hours.
