'The Wheel Of Time' TV Series: Robert Jordan's Fantasy Epic Be Adapted The Small Screen

With the success of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” it’s a wonder that there aren’t much more fantasy series on television. Well, look no further: Robert Jordan’s high fantasy series “The Wheel of Time” is coming soon to a small screen near you. There have been many attempts to adapt “The Wheel of Time” series to film and television. Back in 2000, Jordan mentioned NBC purchased an option to do a miniseries. The series was also optioned to Universal Pictures in 2008, but neither project came to fruition. Then in February of last year, a previously unannounced pilot episode based on the series’ prologue “The Eyes of the World” starring Max Ryan and Billy Zane aired in the wee hours of the morning on FXX. McDougal released a statement saying that the pilot was made without her knowledge, which prompted the production company Red Eagle Entertainment to issue a lawsuit, which was ultimately dismissed. (For more information on the story, check out io9’s full behind-the-scenes report.) But now, the legal issues seem to have been resolved and an official series can move forward.
