Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite. In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

REframe

Tweetable Logline: In a search for peace a man reframes his mother’s murder (by his father), hoping to touch other victims of domestic violence along the way.

Elevator Pitch: Our film follows the story of Ray, a man who, at the age of 7, found his mother murdered by his father. We will follow Ray as he reframes this event into a wider context, interviewing family members and friends in search of new angles and perspectives, both of the murder and of his families history. Ray is looking to find peace, perhaps even forgiveness, but how do you forgive something like this and what does forgiveness even mean? This film has the potential to reach so many people and help remove the stigma of domestic violence.

Production Team:
Director: Ray Suthinithet,
Producer: Alexandra Clayton
Cinematographers: Kevin Jacobsen, Jonah Serfass, Johnny Kingsboro

Editor: Allan Wall

About the Film: Ray Suthinithet says, “I always knew this was a story I needed to tell and now is the time to tell it. As a domestic violence survivor, I have been haunted by its lasting effects on me and believe that the only way to find peace is to seek the strength to forgive. I believe by sharing my story it will give others the strength to go on their own journeys of healing.”
