Watch: Johnny Depp Is America’s Most Wanted Gangster in ‘Black Mass’ Trailer

Johnny Depp looks ready for his Oscar in the chilling new trailer for Scott Cooper‘s “Black Mass.”

Based on the book of the same name by Mark Mallouk and Jez Butterworth, the drama stars Depp as notorious Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger, who became an FBI informant to eliminate criminal competition from the ’70s to the early ’90s. The film also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson, Joel Edgerton and Peter Sarsgaard, among many others.

The film will have its world premiere at an out-of-competion screening at the Venice Film Festival. It hits theaters September 18.
