Mournful New ' Most Violent Year' Poster Speaks Present Day Uncertainty

A24 has released a new poster for J.C. Chandor‘s highly anticipated “A Most Violent Year,” starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain.

Set in 1981, “A Most Violent Year” centers on a couple struggling to survive during what was one most violent years in the history of New York City.

The poster, which you can check out below, features a faded image of a couple, presumably Isaac and Chastain’s characters, looking at the New York City skyline from across the river. As if the faded color palette weren’t unsettling enough, the image is accompanied by a log line submerged in moral ambiguity.

“A Most Violent Year” is slated to premiere next week at AFI Fest on opening night. The film opens in New York and Los Angeles on December 31, 2014, with an expansion to follow suit in January 2015.
