Here’s your daily dose of an indie film, web series, TV pilot, what-have-you in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a project you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Orient City

Logline: Our hero, Boshi, is a fallen samurai who spends his days wasting away in an opium den. When he get’s an offer to guard a well to do family, things take a turn for the worse, and he has to return to his violent ways in order to get revenge.

Elevator Pitch:
“Orient City” is a samurai-spaghetti-western that features hand-drawn animation mixed with white-knuckle action. It mixes the characteristics of the American wild-west with the architecture of Feudal Asia. Traditional western haunts such as bars, brothels and barbershops feature characteristics like Chinese-rooftops, dragongargoyles, Chinese-lampions and bamboo construction stands.

At the center of it all is a fallen samurai who has sworn to protect a young girl whose family has been assassinated. Together they head to Orient City for one thing… revenge.

The combination of hand-drawn animation with modern day filmmaking technology enables us to make something breathtaking with a relatively low cost.

Production Team:
Zsombor Huszka – Director, Lead animator, Co-Producer, Story by, VFX, Editor, Storyboard
Ryan Colucci – Producer, Co-Director, Writer, Story by

About the Film:
Becoming an animation director has always been my childhood dream. Having worked in the comic and animation industry for a while now and teaming up with Ryan, we finally have everything we need to see my dream come true and make my first animated film.

Classic western and samurai movies have been my favorite genres. Reaching back to these roots, and using the language of hand-drawn animation enables us to do something epic and unique. Can’t wait to see Orient City come to life…

Current Status: We are currently running a kickstarter campaign to raise $30.000 to be able to finish the movie.
