Now that Stormy Daniels has given her “60 Minutes” interview about her alleged affair with Donald Trump, one detail has stuck out to many viewers: how similar Trump’s tactics were to those of Harvey Weinstein. Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, said during the tell-all that her first sexual encounter with the former “Apprentice” host began under the pretenses of a meeting about appearing on the reality-TV show hosted by Trump.
“Logan” director James Mangold has taken note of that detail, referring to it as both “sex harassment” and “classic Weinstein.”
“Personally, I think the overlooked thing, partly cause Stormy seems okay with it, is that Trump dangled a job on The Apprentice and leveraged sex. That’s sex harassment, even if she’s okay with it,” Mangold tweeted.
“I mean what he did is classic Weinstein. Meeting/dinner in his room under pretense of a job on his show. She goes to bathroom and then he is waiting on the bed. It is pretty clear what she needs to do to secure her participation in the show.”
Trump has yet to respond to the interview, which Mangold — who also helmed “Walk the Line” and “3:10 to Yuma,” among others — suggests is proof that Daniels is telling the truth.
