Vice Media Reveals Plans Launch Female-Focused Online Vertical

Vice Media continues to grow its digital publishing empire with the launch of a new female-oriented web vertical called Broadly, which aims to cover, according to an exclusive report published by The Hollywood Reporter this morning, “a variety of topics including politics, culture, lifestyle, sex and fashion.”

The vertical will feature two original video series, one of which will document the daily professional and personal lives of different women. The other will examine the relationship between public figures and feminism.

The launch of Broadly is being spearheaded by Shanon Kelly, who will serve as publisher, and Tracie Egan Morrissey, who will take on the role of director of content.

It’s exciting news given Vice’s well-known culture of machismo both inside and out. So here’s to hoping “A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night” director Ana Lily Amirpour, who had her film distributed by Vice Films at the end of last year, shows up somewhere on Broadly. Maybe a weekly column or a show? Fingers crossed.
