Netflix confirmed Sunday what “Luke Cage” fans had been hoping for: A second season of the Marvel series is on the way.
The streaming service made the announcement with a special 18-second teaser, which you can check out below.
“Marvel’s Luke Cage” stars Mike Colter as the title character, a superhuman fugitive who can’t be killed, and who is trying to rebuild his life after a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin. The show also co-stars Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Rosario Dawson and Theo Rossi.

The first season premiered on Netflix this past September and received positive reviews from critics. IndieWire’s Liz Shannon Miller gave the series an A-, writing in her review that it “hums with confidence from beginning to end, owning everything from its cornier jokes to its biggest action sequences to its boldest racial statements.”
“Luke Cage” is the third show in Marvel/Netflix’s series of superheroes, which will lead to the release of “Marvel’s Iron Fist,” and ultimately, “Marvel’s The Defenders,” with Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, and Finn Jones.
No premiere date for Season 2 has been set, though the teaser says “coming soon.”
