Audiences looking forward to Xavier Dolan‘s followup to “Mommy” won’t have to wait much longer: His highly-anticipated psychological thriller, “Tom at the Farm,” is finally coming to the U.S. after premiering at the Venice Film Festival in 2013. Amplify will release the French-language film in theaters and on demand in August.
The official synopsis reads: “After the sudden death of his lover, Guillaume (Caleb Landry Jones), Tom (Xavier Dolan) travels from his home in the city to a remote country farm for the funeral. Upon arriving, he’s shocked to find that Guillaume’s family knows nothing about him and was expecting a woman in his place. Torn between his own grief and that of the family, Tom keeps his identity a secret but soon finds himself increasingly drawn into a twisted, sexually-charged game by Guillaume’s aggressive brother (Pierre-Yves Cardinal), who suspects the truth.”
Dolan isn’t afraid of innovation (see the aspect ratio changes in “Mommy” for proof of that), and the new trailer suggests he’ll continue to push artistic boundaries in “Tom at the Farm.” Check out the trailer above.
