‘Everything Wrong With Captain America: Civil War’ Reveals Marvel’s Latest as Less Bulletproof Than Previously Thought
In the wake of DC’s two, shall we say, less than satisfactory attempts at beginning their own cinematic universe, Marvel’s trajectory appears stronger than ever. Their latest installment, “Captain America: Civil War,” was met with critical acclaim and currently holds the title of 2016’s highest grossing film. Despite the film’s success, however, “Everything Wrong With” and the team at CinemaSins still find ways to poke holes in Marvel’s most recent blockbuster.
Kicking off the penance for Captain America’s latest iteration is the messy prologue featuring Bucky, who seems to be getting “wiped” yet again, somewhere in the icy tundra in 1991. New distinctions that could have been useful in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” are tied in here, racking up the film’s first few “sins.”
Following these are the typical notches for the rapid-fire editing, the incredulity of Captain America’s fighting ability and lazy plot devices that mirror “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”: “As in ‘BvS,’ the government comes in and explains they’re scared of superheroes now because of what they can do, and what’s the difference between these two movies again?” Yikes.
Over the course of twenty minutes, the film racks up a total of 128 sins (only 46 less than “BvS”!), with a final sentence of “Slashed.” Watch the full video below.
