Ah, bachelorette parties: fruity drinks, beach parties, mysterious bug bites that slowly turn you into an insect. Ahead of its release this Friday, Chad Archibald’s body-horror film “Bite” is premiering a new clip exclusively on Indiewire that hints at just how terribly a once-fun trip can go.

The scene shows first contact between our group of heroines and whatever creature it is they’ve been unfortunate enough to encounter. As two women play in the shallows near a waterfall, a third friend filming them all the while, one of them feels something strange underwater. “It’s just a little bite,” she says at the end, though it’s already clear that it will ultimately end up being much more.

“Bite” had its world premiere at the 2015 Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, where it won an Audience Award, before going on to play at several other genre-heavy film festivals. The small ensemble cast is comprised of Elma Begovic, Annette Wozniak, Denise Yuen, Jordan Gray, Lawrene Denkers, Barry Birnberg, Daniel Klimitz, Tianna Nori and Caroline Palmer. Scream Factory is releasing it in select theaters and on demand this Friday, May 6.
