Dr. Brinks & Dr. Brinks

Logline: Estranged siblings, Marcus & Michelle Brinks, reunite after their parents’ death. A comedy about tragedy.

Elevator Pitch:
It’s about a brother and sister, Marcus and Michelle Brinks, estranged siblings who are reunited after the death of their parents, two globe-trotting Doctors-without-Borders types who they barely knew. In the days following the funeral, the siblings can’t help but turn their current lives and relationships into chaos as they’re forced to reckon with their shared past. And it’s a comedy! A comedy about tragedy.

The movie is about pain, laughter, loss, sex, ego…it’s about the search for real family and the strong pull of roots.

Production Team:
Josh Crockett (director)
– director: “Dinner with Holly,” editor: “The Master Cleanse” (SXSW ’16)
Kristin Slaysman (actor/producer)
– actor: “Thou Wast Mild and Lovely” (Berlinale ’14), “Little Sister” (SXSW ’16)
Ted Speaker (producer)
– producer: “Humpday” (Cannes ’09), “Prairie Love” (Sundance ’11), “Funny Bunny” (SXSW ’15)
Adam Tate (producer)
– producer: “Pilgrim Song” (SXSW ’12), “Hunter Gatherer” (SXSW ’16)
Jonathan Pappas (co-writer)

About the Film:
Josh (co-writer/director) and Kristin (actor/producer) have made short films for almost a decade. They celebrate subtle moments and surprising behavior. They are taking that experience and passion for the unusual into their first feature film

From Josh: Characters that behave in surprising ways compel me. I want characters that laugh when you expect them to cry and make selfish, irrational choices in the moment when a more traditional hero would triumph. I want to tell stories about characters that act like real people.

Current Status: Fundraising for production costs.
