Ang Lee‘s martial arts film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” was a critical and commercial success upon release in 2000, garnering numerous awards and grossing over $200 million. It is now considered a modern classic and led to a boost in popularity of Chinese wuxia films. Now, an all-new 4K restoration of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” will soon debut on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. The new release will be loaded with all-new bonus content in both releases. The Blu-ray release will include six never-before-seen deleted scenes, all-new retrospective interviews with director Ang Lee, producer James Schamus and editor Tim Squyres, an archival making-of featurette and the “A Love Before Time” music video. Plus, the Blu-ray will be available as part of the Supreme Cinema Series, a premium, limited edition collection, featuring a collector’s packaging that includes a 24-page booklet of rare photos and behind-the-scenes detail that will only be available while supplies last. Meanwhile, the 4K Ultra HD disc will also include all of those features and both the film and the deleted scenes have an all-new introduction from director Ang Lee exclusive to the 4K Ultra HD disc. The film follow the accomplished Wudang swordsman Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-Fat) and female warrior Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh) as they pursue a stolen ancient sword and a long-time fugitive (Cheng Pei-pei) only to come across a nobleman’s daughter (Zhang Ziyi) with a powerful secret. It was nominated for ten Oscars, winning for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Art Direction, Best Original Score, and Best Cinematography.

Ang Lee has directed many acclaimed films over the past twenty years, including the 1995 Jane Austen adaptation “Sense and Sensibility,” the family drama “The Ice Storm,” the romance “Brokeback Mountain,” and the erotic thriller “Lust, Caution.” He has won two Best Director Oscars for “Brokeback Mountain” and for his 2012 film “Life of Pi.”

“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” will be released on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on October 18 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
