Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

The Skinny

Tweetable Logline: A dark comedy about a fiesty feminist YouTuber living and loving in LA while trying to get over her bulimia.

Elevator Pitch: Despite a lifetime of therapy, Jessie’s food/body obsession always gets in the way of her dream life. A self-proclaimed feminist, Jessie struggles to save the world and have a flat stomach. “The Skinny” is a new kind of comedy series for everyone who knows the most beautiful moments in life ain’t always so pretty. When it comes to stories from the messy front lines of being a real woman, we are truly starving.

Production Team:

Jessie Kahnweiler – Director. Writer. Actor
Illeana Douglas – Actor. Producer
Wifey.tv – Producer (Jill Soloway, Rebecca Odes)
Richie Yau – Cinematographer
Scott Evans – Editor
Beth Van Dam – Production Designer

About the Film: I always felt so sorry for those girls with eating disorders. I never realized I was one of them. After all I wasn’t going to be bulimic forever, as soon as my YouTube videos went viral or my boyfriend got sober I wouldn’t need to puke anymore. As a loud and proud feminist, I couldn’t keep throwing up but I couldn’t stop either. Recovering from bulimia has really been my journey towards becoming a woman: taking my mask off, letting go and simply being myself. Now if I could just figure out what the hell that means…

Current Status: Post-production
