John Oliver’s ‘Last Week Tonight’ Sticks it to Trump and His Failed University — Watch
In recognition of President-Elect Trump settling a series of lawsuits this week (for a total of $25 million, just in time to keep Trump from testifying in court on Nov. 28), HBO has released this glorious clip from Episode 73 of John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight,” titled “Debt Buyers.” Oliver’s show might be on hiatus until Feb. 12, 2017, but, lucky for us, he and HBO are still kicking out hilarious (and depressing) segments like this to tide us over.

In the clip, Oliver drags Trump and his self-named university through the mud and draws a frightening comparison between Trump University’s sleazy sales tactics and Trump’s campaign tragedy strategy. What’s even spookier is this episode was filmed back in June, long before the shocking conclusion to the presidential election, which Oliver warmly referred to as “America’s F***tastic Cirque Dismay 2016.”
Oliver also points out that Trump and his many businesses have been involved in over 3,500 lawsuits over the past 30 years, meaning that if you combined basically every episode of every legal-drama themed TV show ever, it still wouldn’t be enough lawsuits to compete with the Trumpster. Also in the clip, Trump calls out one of the judges who was presiding over several of the cases involving Trump University. Trump cited the man’s Mexican-American heritage as a possible motivation for being such a “Trump hater.”

In one last disconcerting twist from the clip, Oliver highlighted a passage from the Trump University sales staff “playbook” that states, “If they complain about the price, remind them that Trump is the BEST!” Which turned out to be the same tactic Trump had been using to run for president. As we see now, it worked like a charm.
