On the eve of the Telluride Film Festival, Sundance Selects has picked up the U.S. and Latin American distribution rights for the new music documentary “Seymour: An Introduction,” directed by Ethan Hawke.

The film profiles the legendary concert pianist and instructor Seymour Bernstein. Following its premiere at Telluride, “Seymour: An Introduction” is slated to screen at both the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York International Film Festival.

“We have had the great fortune of working with Ethan throughout his career, going back to his directorial debut ‘Chelsea Walls,’ and most recently with Richard Linklater’s ‘Boyhood,'” said Sundance Selects/IFC Films President Jonathan Sehring. “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with his absolutely charming first documentary feature.”

A release date has yet to be announced.
