Watch: Fandor Costume Spotlight Trailer Celebrates Cinema’s Fashion Legacy

Fandor has curated a Spotlight section dedicated exclusively to costume design and fashion. The launch of the section comes on the heels of New York Fashion Week, which wrapped earlier this month, and also precludes the October 2 launch of the costume exhibit that will be housed at the future home of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences museum through March 2015.

The Spotlight is comprised of 18 titles, ranging from iconic narrative features with mesmerizing costume design to documentary and ethnographic film from inside the fashion industry.

The trailer for the Spotlight section, which you can watch in its entirety below, most notably features a quote from celebrated Hollywood costume designer Edith Head. Best known for designing the costumes for classic films such as “The Heiress,” “A Place in the Sun,” “Roman Holiday” and “Sabrina,” Head is historically, and in the trailer, quoted as saying, “What a costume designer does is a cross between magic and camouflage.”
