‘20,000 Days On Earth’ Gets a Pleasantly Chaotic Poster Featuring Nick Cave
Directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, “20,000 Days on Earth” is a biographical docudrama about musician, composer and screenwriter Nick Cave, front man of The Bad Seeds. The unusual narrative style of the film, which simultaneously chronicles a day in the life of the Australian star and pushes him as a character in a semi-dramatic narrative, seeks to provide a unique look at the creative process.

Cave himself is front and center in the poster, which employs the increasingly popular motif of large text covering most of what is otherwise a character poster. Cave’s office, complete with desk and bookcases, is on full display and presumably at the heart of his work and the film. It is littered with disorganized books, poorly aligned posters and way too many nick-knacks. The shadowy tones of the image, partnered with the bloodied poster and Cave’s intense stare suggest a dark element in the film. And what is that figure on the bottom right?
“20,000 Days on Earth” premiered at Sundance in January and is being distributed by Drafthouse Films. It is slated for a September 17 U.S. release and a September 19 UK release.
