READ MORE: 2015 Cannes Film Festival Reveals Its 68th Lineup
Gaspar Noé’s nearly three-hour pornographic “Love,” his first feature since “Enter the Void” — a 2009 Cannes scandale au festival — is among the highest profile additions to the festival. The film will receive a special Midnight Screening.
Apichatpong Weerasethakul will also now return to Cannes following his 2010 Palme d’Or win for “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives” with his latest, “Cemetery of Splendor.” But unlike his former award-winning effort, his new film will screen in the Un Certain Regard Section. Also joining Weerasethakul in that section is Japanese director Naomi Kawase with “AN.” Her last film, 2014’s “Still the Water,” played in the main Competition. The festival will also screen “Lamb,” the first Ethiopian film to play in the Official Selection.
Notably, unlike previous years, the final selection contains no films that screened earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.
Below are the newly announced films playing at Cannes.
