HBO has released the new trailer for “It’s Me, Hilary: The Man Who Drew Eloise,” the documentary executive-produced by Lena Dunham, which focuses on artist Hilary Knight. Knight is well-known for illustrating the “Eloise” books, which chronicle the adventures of a young girl who lives in the Plaza Hotel.
The film gets to the heart of the creator’s love for and connection to Eloise, and at 87 years old, his drive and passion to continue that creation while also uncovering some of the artist’s own personal failures.
The official synopsis continues, “As remarkable a character as Eloise is, so is Hilary: odd, temperamental, flamboyant, on the one hand fiercely private and on the other desperate to make his legacy known. Hilary finds himself with the desire to work and limited access to the subject he would most like to work with: Eloise. What emerges is a portrait of an artist stunted by early success and haunted by personal failures, deeply devoted his most famous creation.”
“It’s Me, Hilary: The Man Who Drew Eloise” premieres on HBO March 23 at 9pm. Watch the trailer below.
