Just yesterday Steven Spielberg’s “War Horse” trailer drummed up early awards buzz. Today the trailer to do the trick is for “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy,” the first English language film from “Let the Right One In” director Tomas Alfredson.

Based on the John le Carre bestselling psychological thriller, “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” stars Gary Oldman as George Smiley, an espionage veteran who comes out of semi-retirement to help uncover a Soviet mole in MI6’s ranks. (Fun Fact: A BBC miniseries adaptation of the novel netted Alec Guiness a BAFTA TV Award for Oldman’s role back in 1980. Might this be the disturbingly never-nominated Oldman’s year come awards season?) Also along for the ride: Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong and Ciaran Hinds.

The Focus Features release opens in the U.K. on September 16 and hits the U.S. on November 18. Expect to hear a lot more about this one as the release date nears.
