The award-winning show will launch on HBO Saturday, January 16, 2016, with a new format of 30 minute episodes (as opposed to the original hour), making it easier for kids to focus and engage with the story. The new season will showcase original opening and closing songs, updated sets, a new “Smart Cookies” segment and a new cast member named Nina.
“Families will see fun and fresh changes to ‘Sesame Street’ and can depend on their favorite Muppet friends to provide them with engaging and educational content,” Brown Johnson, EVP and creative director of Sesame Workshop, said in a statement. “We’re excited to bring the timeless lessons of ‘Sesame Street’ to HBO viewers, like learning numbers from The Count, inner strength from Elmo and kindness from Abby.”
