“The Affair” will begin sooner than you think.
No, we’re not providing some sort of eerie real-life foreshadowing. The debut of Showtime’s latest drama is less than two months away. Once scheduled to debut two weeks after “Homeland” dropped on October 5, the new series from Hagai Levi and Sarah Treem (“In Treatment”) will instead debut October 12. “Homeland” is getting a two-hour premiere the week prior and Showtime doesn’t want to lose any steam coming off the anticipated return of CIA agent Carrie Mathison.
Speaking of steamy, the previews for “The Affair” have been exactly that. While the story is more complex in nature than a simple fling, it’s doubtful Showtime will depart from their unofficial tagline: “sex sells.” Yet “The Affair” wants to tell both sides of the story. The interwoven tales will be uncovered in “Rashomon”-esque chunks until the truth is found out.
The series stars Dominic West, Ruth Wilson, Joshua Jackson and Maura Tierney. Take a look at the new teaser below.
