The Sundance Institute‘s Documentary Film Program, which doles out more than $1 million in grants annually to documentary projects such as “CITIZENFOUR” and “The Queen of Versailles,” has made a major adjustment to its application process.

This year, the Institute has introduced a rolling open call — meaning that filmmakers can apply and be selected for the program at any time. Previously, the application process
