If you haven’t already heard, the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro went up for pre-order on Tuesday and techies have been rushing to get their hands on the highly anticipated phones ahead of the October 28 release date.

Google describes the Pixel 6 as “completely reimagined, inside and out.” The smart phone is an upgrade from the Pixel 5 both in size and function. Features include its first custom-made chip, a 50 megapixel camera, user-friendly interface, and a sleeker yet slightly larger display. The Pixel 6 comes in three colors: Sorta Seafoam, Kinda Coral, and Stormy Black.

Smart phones are usually judged by battery life, storage space, and camera capabilities, and Pixel 6 covers those areas nicely. Pixel 6 comes equipped with larger sensors to help you capture more color, sharper detail, and 150 percent more light than Pixel 5 (there’s also an ultra-wide lens on the back to get even more in the shot). And if you love selfies, Magic Eraser gets rid of unwanted objects, photo bombers, and other distractions from your photos with just a few taps. Additional features include Motion Mode to brighten your shots, and modes that remove the blur from photos.

Where to Pre-Order a Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro

When shopping for a popular phone, a little optimism goes a long way. Because there’s always a chance that your phone could sell out while it’s sitting in your shopping cart, it’s good to have a backup plan (the Google Store already sold out of Pixel 6 pre-orders). To make things easier, we found a few retailers carrying the phone. Among them: Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo, all of which offer special perks with each pre-order. For example, Amazon provides free two-day shipping for Prime members (not a member? The Pixel 6 ($599) and Pixel 6 Pro ($899) base models are available in 128 GB. You also have the option to upgrade to the 256 GB for an additional $100 on the list price.

The battery for Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro lasts up to 24 hours, but if you find yourself low on juice during the day, it only takes about an hour to fully charge the phone. Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro feature a custom-built Tensor chip — the first chip made by Google specifically for Pixel — which is designed to keep your phone running smoothly and more efficiently. This super intelligent smart chip is about 80 percent faster than the Pixel 5, and helps you do things like translate messages and videos, even without internet. Furthermore, the Tensor chip has a custom image processor that helps to capture sharper images and videos, and an extra layer of security as it pairs with the Titan M2 security chip for added protection.

Pixel 6 has a 6.4” OLED Display (90 Hz refresh rate) and a 50 MP camera: 12 MP ultra wide, and an 8 MP front camera. The Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.7” QHD display (120 Hz refresh rate) with a 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultra wide camera, 11 MP front camera, and 48 MP telephoto with 4X optical zoom. The camera has Live HDR+ so you can preview what your final image and adjust color and lighting before you snap the photo, and dual exposure controls that lets you adjust the brightness and shadows separately. Google Pixel also has Super Rez Zoom, and a user-friendly editing dock so photos come out just as you’d like.

Google also enhanced the display for Pixel 6 phones, which are made from Pixel’s “toughest” Gorilla Glass yet, with up to two times better scratch resistance than previous Pixel phones. And with IP68 protection, you won’t have to worry about a little water or dust damaging your device.

There’s nothing worse than cracking your brand new phone, so you’ll probably want to pick up a Goole Pixel 6 phone case ($29) with your purchase. If you’re looking for more accessories check out our list of the best phone lanyards for every budget.
