57th Oberhausen Shorts Fest to Feature 141 Films in Competition

57th Oberhausen Shorts Fest to Feature 141 Films in Competition

The Oberhausen International Short Film Festival is back for its 57th edition with 141 films from 40 different countries to screen across its various competitions. The festival received nearly 6,000 submissions from almost 100 countries this year. Those selected will compete for prizes worth a total of €41, 000.

Competitions on tap for this year’s edition include the International, German, NRW, and the MuVi competition for best German music video.

“This year we received films from 96 countries. We can with some justification claim that, in this incredible mass of films, we are witnessing something like a global reality — one that is also reflected in the competition programs,” said Festival director Lars Henrik Gass. “We often see works that seem to have come about spontaneously, manifesting a very individual point of view. The catchword ‘global’ definitely fits here, because today – not least thanks to the internet – we are able to share in these other perspectives on the world.”
