‘America Divided’ Exclusive Clip: Peter Sarsgaard Explores America’s Addiction Crisis
In the weeks leading up to this year’s presidential election, the EPIX network has aired docu-series “America Divided,” which features celebrity correspondents tackling some of the most crucial issues facing our country today. Executive produced by Norman Lear (“All in the Family”), Shonda Rhimes (“Scandal”) and Common (“Selma”), each week features a different celebrity exploring narratives around inequality in all facets of society — education, housing, healthcare, criminal justice, etc. Some of the celebrities involved include America Ferrera (“Superstore”), Rosario Dawson (“25th Hour”), Zach Galifianakis (“Bored to Death”) and more.

This week’s episode has actor Peter Sarsgaard exploring America’ addiction crisis. In the episode, Sarsgaard travels to Dayton, Ohio to investigate how a city once known for its industrial invention, has become the epicenter of a growing epidemic and a symbol of our age of inequality. Watch a clip from the episode below with Sarsgaard speaking to Emily Surico of the East End Community Center who helps Dayton drugs users get treatment and Ellen Mayes of Ruskin Elementary who runs an after-school program for the area’s neediest children.
Sarsgaard first appeared on last week’s episode of “America Divided,” along with America Ferrera, who explored the topic of undocumented immigrants, and Jesse Williams, who explored inequality in education.
