Mark Frost on the ‘Twin Peaks’ Revival and Working with David Lynch: ‘I Do the Typing’
The “Twin Peaks” revival is on its way sometime next year, though details remain scarce. Mark Frost, who co-created the series along with David Lynch and recently published his book “The Secret History of Twin Peaks,” answered questions on io9 about the original series and his new tome, remaining tight-lipped as far as plot details are concerned.
Asked about his and Lynch’s collaborative process, Frost replied, “We talk, we think, we go back and forth. I do the typing.” On the subject of Laura Palmer’s killer — the mystery at the heart of the show — he answered that he and Lynch “knew [the murderer’s identity], but the circumstances presented themselves and evolved as we worked.” “Twin Peaks” ran for two seasons between 1990 and 1991; Laura’s killer is revealed near the beginning of the second season, a watershed event that irrevocably alters the show’s narrative direction.

Frost was also asked about the series’ immense impact on subsequent TV shows and when he realized the extent of it. His answer: “Hearing that we had an influence on David Chase’s work in ‘The Sopranos.'” High praise indeed. Read the rest of his answers here.
