Watch: ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 5’s Vision Becomes Clear, But Its Teasers Are Still Vague
“Game of Thrones'” fifth season is still a few months away, but
fans now have a second teaser for the show to wet their appetites. It’s not
much though, a quick flash of important characters like Sansa Stark (Sophie
Turner) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), plus a few other scenes. It’s a
bit more than the Arya Stark-centric first teaser, but still doesn’t hint at
what’s to come for the show’s overall plot.
The two teasers come from The Sight, the website HBO
has set up to offer “visions of the future” for the show. This teaser was meant
to be watched only once, after a notification from The Sight, but a fan was able
to record the video before it was gone. The Sight’s page says to “Keep watch
for further visions of the future.”
“Game of Thrones” Season 5 will adapt elements from George R.R. Martin‘s
fourth and fifth “A Song of Ice and Fire” books “A Feast for Crows” and “A Dance With Dragons.” The previous two seasons adapted “A Storm of Swords,” with season
4 made up mainly of the book’s climactic moments (duels to the death! Epic battles
over ice! Bad wine!). It will be interesting to see how the show rebuilds its
momentum after some major plot developments.
At least for fans, this teaser at least seems slightly more
informative than the last one: That quick mix of images heavily includes
elements from Bran Stark’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright, who was also in the first
teaser) storyline – namely the Three-Eyed Raven of his visions, and the
weirwood tree with ties to the Children of the Forest, beings Bran met at the
conclusion of season 4. There were rumors
that Bran might not even be in the fifth season, but there were also rumors of
flashbacks through Westeros’s history as well, perhaps the kind of visions the
Three-Eyed Raven could show the young Stark.
We’ll find out when the show comes back. The fifth season of
“Game of Thrones” is expected to debut sometime in the spring of 2015 on HBO.
